Knowledge exchange at The Catholic University of America with Yuna Zhang

Mai 1, 2019

Yuna Zhang (Ph.D.), a Building Performance Analyst with Baumann Consulting had the opportunity to give a seminar to the students at the Catholic University of America as part of their System and Simulation II class. Dr. Zhang explained the role of building performance simulation in the design process for HVAC&R systems using actual project examples from the Baumann portfolio.

The students were excited to hear about the real life applications of modeling as the university learning curriculum centers around theoretical knowledge. With Baumann Consulting’s mission to elevate high performance buildings from a niche segment of the market to the industry standard, this opportunity brought an insightful perspective on what was actually taking place in the building industries. The students showed great interest in learning how to derive input data for the energy model from design documents and how to visualize and evaluate the results. After the lecture, the graduates invited Yuna to attend their final project presentations for the semester. Yuna may have been successful to win another engineer for our industry since she was asked about internships at the end of the event.

„It was a great experience sharing knowledge with students who would like to work in the A/E industry,“ Yuna said.

The Catholic University of America is a national research university with 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students in more than 180 academic programs on a residential campus in the heart of the nation’s capital.
