Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) is the tenant of a two-floor office space at 750 9th Street NW in Washington, DC, where approximately 61,000 square feet are being renovated to support over 350 full-time employees.
BCBSA is committed to creating a sustainable and healthy workplace environment by following LEED CI v4 standards which guide the design to include open office layouts that enhance natural light and reduce lighting power density, alongside low workstation panels that provide better access to exterior views and daylight. The project further emphasizes sustainability in its choice of furniture, flooring, and ceiling specifications to meet its environmental objectives.
Baumann Consulting was engaged to provide MEP commissioning services to ensure compliance with LEED v4 Commercial Interiors and the DC 2017 Construction Code requirements. This included the floor terminal units and supplemental cooling systems for the server rooms, lighting controls, and domestic hot water systems.
