LEED Consulting, Energy Modeling, Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning, Measurement and Verification
OmniTurm is an innovative new mixed-use development currently under construction in the heart of Frankfurt’s central business district. Germany’s first genuinely mixed-use tower is designed by the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and provides Class A office, residential, and retail space. With a height of over 600 ft, OmniTurm is offering striking views of the city center, including the nearby Taunusanlage Park and river Main.
The project is pursuing the ambitious goal of a LEED Platinum certification. Tishman Speyer selected Baumann to provide LEED consulting, fundamental and enhanced commission services, energy modeling, and measurement and verification (M&V). Combining those services creates synergies and ensures the involvement of a third party to optimize the design, construction and operation of the HVAC systems.
Optimizing the design through evaluation of different energy efficiency measures led to a cost reduction of over 30% compared to the ASHRAE 90.1 – 2007 baseline. Some efficiency features are listed below:
- High-quality envelope
- Dedicated outdoor air system with heat recovery
- Low temperature radiant heating and cooling
- High efficiency chiller
- High efficiency lighting
- Connection to the district heating system
